Hypnotherapy in South Tampa
What is hypnosis?Countless scientific studies have verified hypnosis as an effective tool for accelerated human change. The American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association have accepted hypnosis as a valid therapeutic technique for more than two decades. Hypnosis is a relaxed state of focused attention that allows your critical mind to rest so that you can be receptive to positive comfortable thoughts. In this relaxed state, you can use your imagination to change your experience in a positive way. You gain more control.
“…hypnosis is not mind control. It’s a naturally occurring state of concentration. It’s actually a means of enhancing your control over both your mind and your body.” — Dr. David Spiegel, associate chair of psychiatry, Stanford University School of Medicine, on the Jane Pauley Show, September 2004
Why use hypnosis? |
Hypnosis is useful if you have been unsuccessful with other forms of treatment. It can help you break through old patterns and behaviors that have been holding you back and keeping you stuck. The Mayo Clinic reported in 2003, “The purpose of hypnosis as a therapeutic technique is to help you understand and gain more control over your emotions, behavior, or physical well-being.” Hypnosis is used to help:
- Overcome fears and anxiety
- Heal from emotional pain due to trauma or grief
- Manage pain
- Gain self-confidence
- Stop smoking
- Lose weight
- Eliminate unhealthy habits
How does hypnotherapy work?
“While there is general agreement that certain effects of hypnosis exist, there are differences of opinion within the research and clinical communities about how hypnosis works,” notes the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. However, many scientific studies have documented the mind-body connection, revealing that we are what we think, especially at the level of the subconscious. Since most of what we know is subconscious, hypnosis allows us to be more connected to ourselves. Through hypnosis, we are able to access the subconscious and change some aspect of your emotions (depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts, etc.), change behaviors (smoking, overeating, insomnia, etc.) or change something about your physical experience (pain, muscle tension, nausea, etc.)

In that space is our power to choose our response.
In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
